SCHOOL REOPENS SOON FOR VIRTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING - IAUE

The Federal Ministry of Education has directed all tertiary institutions in Nigeria to restart the 2019/2020 session through virtual teaching. What this means is that staff and students will resume teaching and learning online while at home.

The good news about this is that Ignatius Ajuru University of Education may be among the lucky universities that can implement this directive with minimum constraints.

Since the past one year, we have been investing in the development of our e-Learning Management System (LMS) to commence our Distance Learning Institute in October.

Some members of the academic staff have already been trained for virtual teaching and are fully familiar with the LMS we are adopting for our proposed Distance Education.

The University Management meets on Monday to ventilate the directive from the Ministry and to fine-tune our LMS and to get staff and students to join the platform. All it takes is for one to have a smart phone or an internet-powered tablet, laptop or computer.

It is predicted that Covid-19 may remain here till October 2020. We must join other universities. We can't afford to lose one academic session. God forbid!

All hands must be on deck to make this a reality. That is where the world is going. Thank God we saw this earlier and began to acquire the LMS facility not minding the cost.

I will continue to update you. - VC
